Breast Reduction

Breast Reduction Surgery includes removing skin and excess tissue from the breast to reshape and reduce its size so that they look firm and proportionate.

The women with heavy breasts feel uncomfortable and demotivated wearing certain clothes. Post breast reduction surgery, the patient revitalizes her confidence.

Following women can opt for the breast reduction surgery:

  • If you have sagging breasts due to pregnancies, genetics or ageing.

  • If your large breasts limit your physical activities.

  • If you suffer from neck or shoulder pain due to your breast weight.

  • If you have indentations from bra straps to support your heavy breasts.

  • If you are experiencing skin irritation beneath your breast crease.

  • If you have enlarged areolas due to stretched skin.

Women with the heavy breast also have the following symptoms of Macromastia:

  • Having pain in the neck, upper or lower breast, shoulders, and breast.

  • Having the rashes underneath the breasts.

  • Feeling difficulty in exercising, fitting into clothing or examining the breasts.

Expected Results

  • You will have decreased cup size.

  • You will have elevated and firm breasts.

  • You will have more youthful breast contour with better positioning of Nipple areola complex.

Procedure

  • The procedure is carried under general anaesthesia.

  • It may require a night's stay in the hospital.

  • It involves making incisions around the nipple-areola complex and in the crease under the breast in an inverted T or anchor-shaped incision pattern.

  • The breast tissue is reduced in volume, lifted and then reshaped.

  • For very heavy breast, the nipple and areola may need to be removed to transplant them to a higher position on the breast (known as free nipple graft).

  • Excess breast skin is removed.

  • These incisions are then brought together which reshapes the now smaller breast.

  • These incision lines are permanent, but they fade away and significantly improve over time.

Post Operation Care

  • You will be provided with a surgical bra over gauze dressings.

  • A small tube that drains off the blood and fluid is placed in each breast for first two three days.

  • You may feel slight breast pain for the first few days post surgery and then milder discomfort for a week which can be easily handled using oral medications.

  • You can resume your normal activities after a couple of weeks.
